Ask-A-Librarian

The Eden-Webster Library System includes the Emerson Library at Webster University and the Luhr Library at Eden Theological Seminary. The staff at the Eden-Webster Library System offers an electronic reference service to current students, faculty, and staff of both institutions. Our goal is 24-hour turnaround time Monday through Friday (excluding holidays and other school closings). We will answer questions requiring brief facts, statistics, addresses, etc. and will provide advice on resources to consult for your project or paper. All responses will be made via electronic mail. For more immediate assistance, contact the Reference Department at (314) 968-6950 or (800) 985-4279.

If the information needed is too extensive, or requires analysis and interpretation on your part, a library visit and/or appointment with a reference librarian may be suggested. See our Book a Librarian section for how to schedule a phone or in-person appointment with a research librarian.

An instructional video, Getting Research Help, provides additional information. A complete list of the videos in our Passports Skills Video Series, as well as system requirements for playing these presentations, is also available.

Need extra help getting started or completing a Webster research project? The Emerson Reference Librarians are available in person or by phone for individual library instruction. Simply contact the reference desk in person or by phone (314-968-6950 or 1-800-985-4279) to set up an appointment. So that we may serve you better, please:

  • allow at least 30 minutes for your individual session
  • schedule at least one business day in advance
  • arrange to be at a computer so that we can do a search together
